Because we are now able to manufacture diamonds they are readily available for use in many aspects in our modernized world.  They are used not only in jewelry but in decoration in other clothing articles and house hold fixtures as well.  Also, because it is the hardest rock known to man it is also used for sharpening and cutting other metals.
