Choosing the perfect engagement ring needs to come from the heart. You know what your loved ones styles and likes are so in cooperate that into the ring. What types of diamond cuts are there?

There are many types of diamond cuts available. There are hundreds of styles and hundreds of names to choose from. However, all cuts can be placed within one of three basic cut collections.
1- Step cut- When incisions are made into the diamond that creates a series of steps on its surface.
2- Brilliant cut- When the diamond is cut at many small angles to maximize the faucets in the stone.
3- Mixed cut- Combines both step and brilliant cuts.

What colors of diamonds are there?

By nature diamonds are transparent. However some diamonds hint different colors because of where they were formed. The most common hint of color you will find in a diamond is yellow.   Brown, pink and blue are rare but are naturally produced.   There is a scale available that rates the diamond from A to Z; A being completely translucent and Z being completely colored. Diamonds rated between a-f are extremely sought after because they are the most translucent. Diamonds between s-z are also wanted because of their intense color. Diamonds that are in-between are usually discarded.

Diamonds can be formed into essentially any shape depending on your wants and needs. The most popular shapes are round, square, oval, and trillion (triangle). Other cuts can include marquis, heart, rectangle, tear drop and cushioned (which is any shape with rounded corners). There are certain shapes that are more available but upon request any shape can be figured. Also there are many shapes that look best with a particular type of jewelry so make sure to discuss your options with your jeweler.
